Advocate for transformation – Busisiwe Mavuso

Written by Staff Writer

July 28, 2020

Busisiwe Mavuso is the Chief Executive Officer of Business Leadership South Africa and has been a board member since 2017.

Busisiwe was previously the Managing Director of the Black Management Forum (BMF), an organisation she joined in May 2009.

However brilliant I am, there is no way I can deliver on every aspect on my own. I need to do that through my people and to take my entire team along with me.” – Busisiwe Mavuso

Busisiwe launched the BLSA Connect initiative to connect black-owned small companies to the supply chains of big businesses. BLSA also supports the Youth Employment Service initiative, which aims to create a million jobs over two years.

One of the things she is famous for is being a passionate proponent of business in South Africa and is always at the sharp end on the debates about the future of the country.

Busi is one of Business for South Africa (B4SA) founders, an organisation that is currently planning bold, practical steps that aim to provide an immediate boost to the economy, protect existing jobs and deliver new ones while establishing other factors for securing long-term growth.

She is not shy when it comes to her passion for transformation and people’s development.

Speaking at the 2020 Top Empowerment virtual conference last week Busi said the country needs a leap of faith to make new possibilities a reality.
