We are a digital technology company specialising in multi-cloud solutions, technology transformations and consulting services.We have a combined 35 years corporate experience, of which 20 years has been at an executive level driving business strategy and technology transformations within the technology, logistics, investment and financial services industry.

Considerations around data, cyber security, capacity on demand, risk management as well as what should be done in private cloud vs public cloud are all elements of our unique knowledge and remains our competitive edge. Understanding the balance of stability, cost, efficiency, future proofing and user experience are core to who we are.

The Co-founders of Vaxowave have both accomplished many accolades in their personal careers including highlights such as: Holding CIO and CTO positions at two of the big four banks in South Africa for over 17 years, becoming one of the youngest executive directors at one of the big four banks in South Africa and many more compelling achievements. The Co-founders are both firm believers in the growth potential of South Africa and this is embodied by their investment of resources including personal time to develop graduates and small businesses. Since 1 March 2019 to date, we have invested 30% of our gross profit in training, growing and investing in our on-demand economics black owned companies.

Founder BIO + TOP Women:

Co-founder and Executive Director – Vaxowave Pty Ltd

Kume was the Chief of Staff to the CIB Chief Operating Officer at Absa Bank Ltd where she was responsible for setting the back office strategy, providing operational support and strategic advice to the COO and CIB CEO. At the tender age of 29, Kume made directorship at Absa becoming one of the youngest executives at the Bank.

She holds a Honours degree in Accounting Sciences and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and has won many accolades for exceptional performance during her education and professional career .

Her passion for business enablement through innovation led to her co-founding Vaxowave, a technology company specialising in digitally enabling their clients to use disruptive cloud type technologies underpinned by new ways of working and software automation. The company was incorporated in June 2018 and she left Absa in January 2019 to run the business fulltime.

She is a passionate advocate for literacy programs in South Africa, developing the youth and developing talented women in leadership. She helps to equip rural schools with essential school supplies and dedicates a large portion of her free time to mentoring young people and often speaks in forums aimed at empowering and promoting women in leadership. She is an advisory Board member of Wired for Women Board. Wired for Women is the brainchild of BCX and Brainstorm. A platform for all that brings women in the Tech sector’s together to address the issues of the profession and the challenges women face and how to overcome those challenges and build solutions that are long term to empower females in the workspace


She is newlywed and enjoys playing a competitive game of tennis to unwind.


Peter holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree supplemented with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and is a long standing member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.

His career in technology started in the telecommunication industry, where he worked at Alcatel Telecoms in his junior years, followed by various senior management roles at both Dimension Data and Internet Solutions. For the past 17 years,

Peter has been firmly rooted in the Financial Services industry working for both Standard Bank and Absa Bank (formerly known as Barclays Africa Group).

During his time at Standard Bank, he gained extensive experience in Corporate Channels, Global Markets and the Payments division where he progressed to become the Chief Information Officer (CIO) to oversee the Operations Technology division for the Group. At Absa, he fulfilled various technology executive roles which culminated in him becoming the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for the Absa Group. In his CTO role, he was responsible for numerous successful transformation initiatives which included Enterprise Cloud, Public Cloud, DevOps, Automation, Agile Engineering and Culture Change.

He is a firm believer in the growth potential of Africa and embodies this by investing his personal time providing opportunities for the development of graduates and interns. He has also been involved with many CSI initiatives and within the greater industry he is the co-founder of the Africa Industry DevOps Day initiative, which aims to build a pipeline of DevOps in South Africa. In addition to his passion of giving back, he is an avid speaker and has presented at numerous industry initiatives including a key note speaker at the AWS summit in Cape Town, South Africa. In 2017 he was nominated as an Institute of Information Technology Professionals of South Africa (IITPSA) Visionary CIO finalist.

Peter is a thriving entrepreneur, previously owning and managing a successful technology business.

In 2018 following his passion and love for new age technology, Peter left Absa to co-found Vaxowave, a technology company specialising in digitally enabling their clients to use disruptive cloud type technologies underpinned by new ways of working and software automation.

He is a family man, who regularly runs half marathons, has a keen interest in the outdoors – water sports in particular.


Karen Williams synopsis

Operations executive @ Vaxowave and Founder K-Stone Business Services

Karen has an extensive career in Financial services, spanning over 20 years. She has worked in banking, insurance and a stint with the South African Revenue Services. The roles she fulfilled started out in Finance, however her desire to understand the bigger picture, spurred her to move into the Operations side of business. She has been responsible for setting and executing strategy in various banking environments and has a penchant for implementing change. In recent years, she has been instrumental in driving innovation initiatives such as Hackathons; Cloud implementation and Agile adoption amongst other things. She is currently the Operations executive at Vaxowave. A role which she runs concurrently with her own business.

At the beginning of 2020, Karen fulfilled a life-long dream and started her own company – K-Stone Business Services. She concurrently fulfils the role of Operattions Executive at Vaxowave. K-Stone is 100% black female owned, BBBEE level 1 consulting company based in Johannesburg South Africa. The company provides services across different sectors with particular focus on Business Administration, allowing companies and executives to focus on their core offering.

She is passionate about the development of young people in technology and business, especially females, which has seen her involvement in various programmes inside and outside her working environment.

She holds degrees in Accounting, Business Management & Marketing and is an MBA graduate from the University of Pretoria’s business school- GIBS.

She believe in #FamilyFirst and enjoys reading anything she can lay her hands on in her spare time.

Phyllis MADABA

Phyllis Madaba

Cloud Architect and Developer

Phyllis is a skilled Cloud Architect and developer whose career has been predominantly in technology divisions within the banking sector. Her previous experience is as an Integration Developer and she is skilled at developing strategic requirements and solution analysis through all stages of project lifecycles.

She is a University of Johannesburg Alumni, where she graduated with a Bsc Mathematical Sciences, with specialisation in Computer Science, degree. She currently holds IT Industry certifications from IBM, Microsoft, Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services,. She believes that educating and upskilling yourself is the shortest route to success and had no intention to stop anytime soon. She has attended multiple leadership seminars and training with the goal to attaining knowledge to ascend to a leadership role in her professional space. Her professional interest lays in the power of cloud computing and optimization to transform organisations.

She is also passionate about using her skills to transform communities digitally and to empower marginalised women to take up the spaces, which the pioneers of gender equality fought so hard to make available for us today.

When she has some spare time, this go-getter enjoys reading and watching sci-fi movies.
