On the first day of the Standard Bank Top Women Conference 2025, Topco Group Editor Fiona Wakelin sat down with Mia Louw, General Manager of Guerbet South Africa to get some insights into her experience of the event. This is part of a series of interviews designed to give you a front-row seat to the voices and moments that defined the event.

“I think a key message for today is that when we do things together, we can create so much more value. And I think the importance for myself today is to see the synergies that we can create between the various companies, partners and women here to make a substantial difference in the lives and the future of the women of South Africa,” said Mia.

Guerbet is one of the leading experts in medical imaging worldwide. The company offers a full range of medical solutions and services in diagnostic imaging and interventional imaging.

Mia added that “Standard Bank and Topco have created this spectacular platform for us that we can use, and that we can create synergies with. A platform where we can reach out to people within our communities, within other businesses to see how we can get together to make a bigger difference in South Africa and in the lives of women.  And how can women support women to go further and create more value as, in my opinion, women are the cornerstone of our communities. We should build networks, we should create connections and we should find actionable outcomes from the collaborations that we can have through the course of today.”

With the theme “Her Power. Africa’s Future” the Standard Bank Top Women Conference, South Africa’s premier gender empowerment platform took place at the Sandton Convention Centre from 22 to 23 September.
