Winner of the Standard Bank Top Women EmpowHER Entrepreneur 2022, Khayelitsha Cookies owner and Managing Director, Adri Williams, continues to encourage entrepreneurs to enter for the Standard Bank Top Women EmpowHER programme, run by Topco Media.
“I’d love to encourage people to enter the programme. And if you are anything like I was, where you feel inadequate to actually enter, the programme that you’re going to go through to assist you in seeing yourself better and your business through different eyes is absolutely worth the journey,” she said.
Since winning in 2022, the lives of previously unemployed women in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, continue to change, thanks to Khayelitsha Cookies.
The company creates employment by employing previously unemployed ladies, mainly from Khayelitsha and surrounding Western Cape poverty-stricken areas.
The ladies are trained to hand bake and hand pack cookies, brownies, and cheese straws in the Food Safety Accredited Factory situated near Parow, Cape Town.
In 2023 Adri formed part of the Standard Bank Top Women EmpowHER conference series as not only one of the speakers but also a judge in the Cape Town region.
“So it doesn’t matter if you get into that stage and get selected as a winner; the journey that you’re going through by entering this programme will make you a winner in your own heart, mind, and respective business.”
The aim of the Standard Bank Top Women Series is to equip women entrepreneurs with the necessary skills and knowledge to build successful enterprises that drive economic development in South Africa.
This year, the Standard Bank Top Women EmpowHer Conference travelled around South Africa to reach female entrepreneurs in Cape Town, Durban, and the North West.
The winners in these regions were Denise Stubbs in Cape Town, Ntokozo ‘Melo’ Ntleko in Durban, and Lufuno Rasoesoe in the North West.
Standard Bank Top Women Conference and Awards
One of the most exciting aspects of the EmpowHER conference is the opportunity it offers the winners from all three regions. These exceptional women will attend the 20th annual Standard Bank Top Women Awards in November 2023, to be held in Johannesburg. This grand celebration of achievement and ambition will see one remarkable individual walk away with the coveted trophy and a substantial R50,000 cash prize.
The audience can anticipate the forthcoming Standard Bank Top Women Conference this month, followed by the Standard Bank Top Women Awards in November. This pivotal event promises to provide further insights, connections, and empowerment. Secure your spot now by registering through this link.
